Finding the Iron Rod
Life is to be enjoyed, not endured.

“The responsibility rests upon the membership of the Church to preach the restored gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue and people”~McKay
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Been kind of stressed lately about school. The sister missionaries referred me to this passage. :)
So I’ve been going to church…
and, barring my awkward social skills (this week I got to the church twenty minutes early and hid in the Primary room until I could safely make a beeline for the chapel and sit down) it hasn’t been too bad.
- Last week every single talk really spoke to me, I definitely felt like they were meant for me to hear.
- This week they were not all with special regard to me, which is fine, but one in particular actually moved me to tears. It was kind of embarrassing because I wasn’t sitting alone this week.
My favourite talk thus far has been about the Stripling Warriors. In listing ways that we can be more like them, the speaker talked about how we can visualize (“armchair pilot”) any situation in our lives that can be anticipated in any way and it can help us to choose the right path with courage, reliability, honesty, and trustworthiness. The speaker also talked about how there are rules for a reason, rules in society, and rules in religion. He said compared these rules to the piloting rule that says they should stay 1000 ft. away from clouds, but that he, himself, observed a rule that he should stay 2000 ft. away from clouds, so as to provide a cushion barrier from the actual barrier, or the point of no return.
Barriers and fences are useless unless they are properly placed and far enough away from the threat in question.
We never fall in a hole unless we are near the edge of it.
There are spiritual fences as well. Put up spiritual barriers that prevent you from getting to the point of no return, where you might be more likely to make a bad choice and dissolve the barrier that the Prophet has put up for us.
